Young Africans lift Tanzanian title by a goal
Young Africans won their 18th Tanzanian premier league title on yesterday after edging out holders Simba on goal difference.
Both teams ended the race with 46 points, but Young Africans, coached by Ugandan Sam Timbe, had a goal advantage over their arch-rivals going into the final day of competition. The league winners sealed the title with a 3-0 win at Toto African, with Simba only matching the result with a 4-1 victory over Maji Maji.
The new champions will represent Tanzania in the next year's African Champions League while Simba, who lost to the defending champions, TP Mazembe of DR Congo in the second round of this year's championship, will compete in the Confederation Cup.
