Former Germany international Patrick Owomoyela has extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund by a year, despite spending much of the current season sidelined by injury.
The 31-year-old could also play a further year for the Westphalians should he remain free of injury next season and make a specific number of appearances.
The club's director of sport Michael Zorc announced the agreement via the club's website today.
Owomoyela joined Dortmund in 2008 from Werder Bremen but has been restricted to just 64 appearances over the past three seasons due to a string of injuries.
He rose to prominence with Arminia Bielefeld between 2003 and 2005 and was part of the Germany national team 11 times in the build-up to the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, for which he was ultimately not selected.
He started Dortmund's first six matches this season before being sidelined by an ankle injury which could keep him out until the end of the season.
