Substitute Ilija Stolica snatched a dramatic last-minute equaliser for the New England Revolution to cap a wild 1-1 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps in which three players were sent off.

The drama started just before half-time when Vancouver's Gershon Koffie was sent off for an elbow on Pat Phelan. Despite that setback, Vancouver took the lead when Zak Boggs fouled Camilo da Silva in the area and Eric Hassli, a half-time substitute, fired home the penalty.

But Hassli, who had already picked up a soft yellow card, pulled off his shirt in celebration and left Vancouver with nine men as he was sent off. New England then got a red card of their own as AJ Soares was sent off 15 minutes from time for a late challenge. Despite the setback the Revolution continued to push and Stolica had already had one goal chalked off for offside before scoring two minutes into stoppage time.
