Eintracht Frankfurt coach Christoph Daum was proud of his side for getting a 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg on his debut in charge of the club yesterday, but admitted his side had been a little lucky.
Frankfurt led with a goal which was scored from a clear offside position and were only pegged back five minutes from time as the Wolves salvaged a point. "We were lucky to go ahead," admitted Daum. "To have come home with three points would not have been deserved at the end of the day.
"However, I would like to pay a huge compliment to my team. When I see who Wolfsburg have in their squad, I am convinced that they will get out of danger. They are an exceptional team so I am therefore glad that we have got a point."
Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath was also happy to maintain his unbeaten record since returning to the club, although he feels his side deserved more than just a point. "At least we have left the automatic relegation zone and are now in the play-off position," he said.
"I am glad that the team did not let the offside goal and the red card knock them off course. We would have deserved to win, but overall, I am just glad that we did not lose. If we carry on playing like that, particularly away from home, then we will still pick up the points we need."
The point lifted Wolfsburg up to 16th in the Bundesliga, ahead of St Pauli on goal difference, while Frankfurt maintained their four-point cushion over the bottom three.
