Los Angeles Galaxy had Chris Birchall sent off but held on to beat Philadelphia Union 1-0 in Major League Soccer.
Leonardo scored the game's only goal, heading in a free-kick from David Beckham after 33 minutes.
Birchall was dismissed in the 53rd minute after clashing with Carlos Ruiz, while Philadelphia also ended the game with ten men after Jack McInerney was dismissed in the last minute.
The four other games finished all square. New York Red Bulls were held 1-1 at home by Houston Dynamo.
Dane Richards put New York in front after 47 minutes and Cameron Weaver levelled three minutes later.
San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders shared four goals, with Simon Dawkins and Khari Stephenson on target for San Jose, cancelling out efforts from Brad Evans and O'Brian White.
Vancouver fight back
Vancouver Whitecaps recovered from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Sporting Kansas City. Teal Bunbury scored after 45 and 58 minutes before Kei Kamara stretched Kansas City's lead in the 62nd minute.
But Atiba Harris pulled one back after 73 minutes and Camilo netted twice in stoppage time to give the game a dramatic late twist.
New England Revolution and Portland Timbers drew 1-1. Stephen McCarthy scored after 22 minutes for New England, and Jack Jewsbury netted the 38th-minute equaliser.
