Barcelona reserve goalkeeper Jose Manuel Pinto today expressed his delight after signing his contract extension to remain at the Catalan club through June of 2012.

The agreement was announced on Monday and the 35-year-old, who joined Barça from Celta Vigo in 2007, put pen to paper at a media presentation at the club's offices this afternoon.

Pinto, who is the understudy to Victor Valdes at the Nou Camp, told Barça TV: "I'm very happy because this is where I wanted to be. The truth is that since I arrived it was all very clear to me.

I am very happy because I feel valued and I can contribute both on and off the pitch.

"I came for six months, but my mind was already focused on carrying on. In this respect nothing has changed," he went on. "I am happy here and my family too, and when that happens you can't ever consider anything but to carry on."

The veteran has made 12 appearances this season - three in the Primera Division - and is proud of what he has achieved. "I'm happy to prove myself on the pitch, because sometimes what you do to help the team in training and not in games is not easily seen," he said."I am very happy because I feel valued and I can contribute both on and off the pitch."

He added: "We'll carry on doing what we have been doing up to now. We'll give everything, whether it goes right or wrong, so we must be calm and encourage each other in difficult times. Being together and united as a team is the only way to achieve everything."
