Racing Club moved to the top of Argentina's Clausura with a win at Colon Santa Fe, as Estudiantes slipped to a surprise defeat against Godoy Cruz on Sunday.

Pablo Luguercio opened the scoring for Racing Club after 15 minutes and Teofilo Gutierrez doubled the advantage three minutes before half-time. Gutierrez got his second goal in the 71st minute and Gabriel Hauche rounded off the scoring six minutes from time as La Academia moved two points clear at the top.

Estudiantes, victorious in three of their first four matches, slipped to a 1-0 home defeat against Godoy Cruz. Israel Damonte got the only goal on the hour as Godoy moved into the top half.

River Plate remain sixth after a 2-1 home defeat to Velez Sarsfield, who join them on eight points. Santiago Silva won it for the visitors with goals in the 34th and 84th minutes, with Mariano Pavone's 48th-minute penalty sandwiching the brace. The result means Argentinos Juniors now hold Clausura's last remaining unbeaten record.
