City face United, Stoke tackle Bolton in cup
Manchester United face an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City at Wembley after their local rivals beat Reading in Sunday's quarter-final.
United, who beat Arsenal 2-0 in their quarter-final on Saturday, were paired with City or Championship club Reading in Sunday's semi-final draw, which took place just before kick-off at Eastlands. City ensured the mouth-watering all-Manchester clash would take place as a Micah Richards header in the second half ended Reading's stubborn resistance.
It will be the first Manchester derby in an FA Cup semi-final since 1926 when City defeated United before losing the final to Bolton, who also remain in the competition.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side are still chasing a potential treble and will relish the chance to claim another semi-final win over City after beating Roberto Mancini's team in the last four of the League Cup last season.
City last played in an FA Cup semi-final back in 1981 when they beat Ipswich en route to a final replay defeat against Tottenham.
The two meetings between United and City in the Premier League this season were contrasting affairs. The first at Eastlands was a dour 0-0 draw, while United won the Old Trafford clash 2-1 thanks to a stunning overhead kick by Wayne Rooney.
The other Wembley semi-final will be between Bolton, 3-2 winners at Birmingham yesterday, and Stoke, who beat West Ham 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium today.
Draw for the English FA Cup semi-finals:
Manchester City v Manchester United
Bolton Wanderers v Stoke City
Ties to be played at Wembley on 16/17 April
