Fury's Williams joins Sydney's continental push
Australian A-League champions Sydney FC have confirmed the signing of David Williams on loan from North Queensland Fury for the club's AFC Champions League campaign starting next month.
Williams, 23, has had standout seasons with the struggling Fury and will join Sydney FC for the group stage of the Blues' ACL campaign, club officials said. Williams will return to the Fury once he fulfils his commitments with Sydney.
Sydney FC's opening match of the tournament is on 2 March against Korea Republic's Suwon Bluewings at the Sydney Football Stadium. "David is a quality player who will complement our current strike force and provide us with different attacking options," Sydney FC vice-chairman Scott Barlow said.
Williams said his six-month contract with Sydney FC will enable him to keep playing football during the A-League's off-season.
