A seventh-minute goal from Silvestre Varela gave Porto a 1-0 win over Rio Ave tonight to maintain their record of having not lost a league game this season. Jeferson was sent off for Rio with eight minutes remaining in the only other noteworthy incident.
Benfica remain 11 points behind Porto, having won 2-0 at Vitoria Setubal, thanks to goals from Nicolas Gaitan and substitute Franco Jara.
Academica and Beira Mar shared six goals in a thrilling 3-3 draw, with Academica twice squandering the lead. Diogo Melo gave them the lead in the sixth minute, but Bindi Djamal levelled 29 minutes later.
Moreira Artur gave Beira the lead, with Moudou Sougou and David Addy putting the home side back ahead, only for Leandro Tatu to equalise with nine minutes left.
