Lekhwiya continued their impressive season as they defeated Al Siliya 2-0 in the opening match of round 12 of this year's Qatar League.
Lekhwiya, who claimed their ninth win this season, opened the scoring through Moroccan defender Abdeslam Ouaddou on 41 minutes before Ivorian striker Bakari Kone made it 2-0 three minutes before the end.
Elsewhere, Al Rayyan failed to hold on to their first-half lead to draw 1-1 with Al Sadd. Fabio Cesar opened the scoring for Al Rayyan after 37 minutes but Korean defender Lee Jung-soo levelled the scores for Al Sadd with eight minutes remaining.
The round will be continued on Friday as Al Khor meet Al Wakra and Umm Salal take on Al Arabi while on Saturday, Qatar SC play against Al Khraitiat and defending champions Al Gharafa host Al Ahli.
