Unbeaten UAE League pacesetters Al Jazira strengthened their position at the top of the table following their 2-1 win against Al Nasr today.

Al Jazira, who took their points total to 32 from 12 games, opened the scoring after 21 minutes through their Brazilian striker Jader Bare before his compatriot at Al Nasr Rodrigo Vergilio levelled the scores early in the second half. Ibrahima Diaky converted an 84th-minute penalty to win the game for Al Jazira.

Inaugural AFC Champions League winners Al Ain suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Dubai who owed their win to Hassan Mohamad, scorer of the only goal on the night in the 64th minute.

Tomorrow sees Al Ahli meet Al Dhafra and Al Wahda take on Al Wasl, while on Saturday Al Sharjah play against Ittihad Kalba'a and Al Wahda host Al Ahli.
