Wolfsburg's managing director Dieter Hoeness has declared himself happy with his day's work after signing five new players before the transfer deadline yesterday.

Patrick Helmes, Jan Polak, Tuncay Sanli, Yohandry Orozco and Koo Ja-Cheol all joined Die Wölfe, as a proportion of the money earned from the sale of Edin Dzeko to Manchester City was reinvested in the squad.

And Hoeness was satisfied with his shopping spree. "We are now totally satisfied with the solution that we have found," he said on his club's official website.

We are now totally satisfied with the solution that we have found. We are confident with what we have done, and we have not done anything crazy.

"We followed a strategic and also a short-term route because, as well as considering the development of the side, we also had to keep our current situation in our minds. We are confident with what we have done, and we have not done anything crazy."

Helmes was the most expensive arrival at €12m from Bayer Leverkusen, followed by Tuncay from Stoke City, who said he "could not sleep at night because of the excitement" of joining Wolfsburg.

"That says it all," added the former Hertha Berlin general manager. "We really wanted just this kind of player, who is really delighted about playing for Wolfsburg.

"Patrick Helmes, for example, did a lot to ensure the transfer went through. He made it clear from the very beginning that he wanted to join us."
