AEK Athens slipped to fourth in the Super League this evening on the back of a thumping 4-0 home defeat to Olympiacos Volou. Khalifa Sankare and Xavier Umbides had the visitors two goals to the good within 20 minutes and second-half strikes from Vicente Monje and Costas Kapetanos sealed the rout to move the victors up to fifth.

The result left AEK 15 points behind leaders Olympiacos, having played a game more.

PAOK Salonika took full advantage of the capital club's slip-up, edging FC Xanthi 2-1 to take over third spot. Dimitris Salpingidis grabbed PAOK's winner nine minutes from time after they had seen Stefanos Athanasiadis' opener cancelled out by Xanthi substitute Mauro Poy.

Elsewhere in the Greek top flight tonight, Kerkyra beat bottom team Larissa 1-0 thanks to a 73rd-minute winner from substitute Goran Maznov.
