Milan thump Bari in Coppa
Antonio Cassano made his first start for AC Milan as the Serie A leaders thumped basement sitters Bari 3-0 on Thursday to reach the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
All the pre-match talk was about January transfer-window signing Cassano's first start for the club since his move from Sampdoria and the 28-year-old lasted 65 minutes before making way for the returning Andrea Pirlo.
Cassano, however, was upstaged by strike partners Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho, who both found the net, as well as young German midfielder Alexander Merkel, who notched one and made another. Robinho was the main star of the show, though, scoring one and making the other two as well.
Playing a changed backline but with their star forwards, Milan always had too much for Bari and were two up at the break. And when Robinho converted Merkel's pass 25 minutes from the end it was all over bar the shouting.
Milan will play Sampdoria in the last eight while Inter Milan take on Napoli, Juventus play Roma and Palermo tackle Parma.
