Glory release defender Todd
Perth Glory have released former English Premier League defender Andy Todd from the final two months of his contract to find a new club in the January transfer window.
Todd, 36, who has been restricted by injury to just 15 games this A-League season, said he was keen to return to England and continue playing. "I still believe I can play and I'm hopeful of doing that back home in England," Todd said.
Perth Glory deputy chairman Lui Giuliani said the long break between the end of this season and the start of the 2011/12 A-League season meant the club was unable to commit to a new deal with Todd.
"Unfortunately because of the possible eight-month lay-off we are not ready to finalise our squad," Giuliani said. "Andy is a club champion, a first class professional and we understand his desire to find a new club while the transfer window is still open."
Todd, who signed for Glory in 2009, played in England for more than 15 years including stints with Bolton Wanderers, Charlton, Blackburn Rovers and Derby County.
