A 4-2 win over Kavala helped Panathinaikos keep the heat on great rivals Olympiacos at the top of the table, reducing the gap between the two to five points.

Djamel Abdoun gave Kavala a shock third-minute lead, but Kostas Katsouranis soon levelled things up. Djibril Cisse put the home side ahead, only for Abdoun to level with a penalty, which Cisse matched with a penalty of his own after the break. Lazaros Christodoulopoulos wrapped things up after coming on as a substitute.

Third-placed AEK Athens enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win at Asteras Tripoli. It took until the 47th minute for them to open the scoring through Nikos Liberopoulos but, once that had gone in, further goals followed from Blanco and a penalty from Ignacio Scocco. Ergotelis moved above FC Xanthi and into the top five as they won 1-0 at the home of their rivals thanks to Diego Romano's 32nd-minute goal.

Bottom club Larissa moved to within two points of Panserriakos with a 2-1 win at home to Iraklis. Jan Blazek gave them the perfect start with a first-minute opener and, despite Apostolos Vellios levelling, Joel Tshibamba won it nine minutes from the end.

In the night's other game, Panionios won 2-0 at Aris Salonika with a brace from Kostas Mitroglou.
