Espanyol striker Dani Osvaldo, 24, is expected to be sidelined for two months after undergoing surgery on his left leg.

The Argentina-born former Italy U-21 international picked up the injury during Sunday's 4-0 victory over Real Zaragoza in La Liga.

"Tests confirmed that Daniel Osvaldo has suffered an almost complete rupture of the left adductor," read a club statement.

"Doctors believe that surgery is recommended because it is a very simple operation.

"The striker would be around two months."
