Cristiano Ronaldo will miss his first game of the season for Real Madrid tomorrow as Jose Mourinho rings the changes for the second leg of their Copa del Rey last-16 tie with Levante.

With Madrid leading 8-0 from the first leg, Mourinho has opted to give some of his fringe players a chance in the return match and has rested Iker Casillas, Angel Di Maria, Xabi Alonso, Marcelo, Mesut Ozil, Raul Albiol and Mahamadou Diarra.

Ronaldo has been struggling with an illness and is also missing, along with injured duo Gonzalo Higuain and Jerzy Dudek.

Ronaldo, who scored a hat-trick in the first leg and took his season tally to 27 goals in all competitions with a brace in Monday's 3-1 league win over Getafe, has featured in every competitive Madrid match under Mourinho.

Mourinho will welcome back centre-backs Pepe and Ricardo Carvalho following suspension however, while he has also named five youth-team players in a 20-man squad for the trip to Levante.
