Wellington Phoenix produced a dominant performance to beat Melbourne Victory 2-0 in an A-League clash at Westpac Stadium today.
The hosts dominated from the start but had to wait until the 67th minute to find a way past Michael Petkovic when Dylan Macallister fired home at the second attempt after the Victory keeper had denied his initial header.
The three points were secured just five minutes later when Marco Rojas drove home after latching onto a pass from Macallister for Phoenix's second.
The win moves Phoenix to within a point of the top six to keep them firmly in the mix for a play-off place with just seven games remaining.
Victory, meanwhile, remain in fourth place, three points behind Gold Coast United having played two games more.
