Cologne have continued their winter shopping spree by signing Slawomir Peszko from Lech Poznan, initially on loan until the end of the season.
The Polish midfielder is the third new face in Cologne this winter following the arrivals of Tomoaki Makino and Michael Rensing and, according to their president Wolfgang Overath, he will enhance their chances of avoiding relegation.
"Slawomir Peszko is a valuable enrichment," he said on his club's website. "He brings a lot of quality with him, has a good vision of the game and this is how he can help the team to achieve its goal for the season."
Peszko has until June to earn a full-time move to Die Geissbocke and he will start work immediately in the club's winter training camp in Turkey.
"We have gained more quality and variety in our midfield with Slawomir," said Cologne coach Frank Schafer. "The timing of the transfer also gives us the chance to integrate him into our team during the training camp."
