Juan Albin scored a late winner and was sent off following his celebrations as Getafe upset high-flying Villarreal 1-0 in the Primera Division this evening.
The Uruguayan forward netted the only goal of the game with two minutes remaining, when he controlled Javier Casquero's flick-on and sent a low shot just inside the post.
The former Nacional striker peeled off his shirt in celebration, earning him a second yellow card and leaving Getafe with nine men on the pitch as defender Daniel Diaz had already been dismissed.
The ex-Boca Juniors defender was given his marching orders for a fierce challenge on Nilmar five minutes before half-time, but Getafe remained the better side despite their numerical disadvantage.
With all 22 players on the pitch, chances were few and far between, with Daniel Parejo coming closest after half an hour, when he fizzed a free-kick just wide of the target.
The game understandably opened up after Diaz's dismissal and Nilmar saw a good effort saved by Getafe goalkeeper Jordi Codina on the stroke of half-time. Manu del Moral then came close for the home side early in the second half, but saw his shot well parried by Diego Lopez.
Miku and Pedro Rios were just off target as Getafe more than held their own in the latter stages. And it was no surprise when Albin popped up to slot home the winner with a minute left.
The home fans were left on edge, though, as Getafe were left with nine men to defend their slender lead against one of the best attacking sides in the league, but Michel's team held on comfortably for a third straight Primera Division win which sees them move provisionally up to sixth.
Villarreal stay third, but Juan Carlos Garrido's side missed a good opportunity to stay in touch with the big two and could be overtaken by Espanyol tomorrow.
