Former French international Jerome Rothen will bide his time before deciding on a possible move to AEK Athens as he considers options elsewhere, including England.

The 32-year-old, a free agent since leaving Paris St Germain in October, has held talks with the Greek Super League side in recent days.

But he told L'Equipe: "I visited their facilities and spoke with the coach. It is a club with ambition. We are in negotiations over personal terms.

"I have other paths open to me in the United States, England and France. I will give myself a few days to think about it."

Rothen enjoyed the most successful years of his career in Ligue 1 with Paris St Germain and Monaco, and also spent a brief unsuccessful spell with Scottish Premier League giants Rangers last season. He won 13 caps for his country, scoring one goal.
