Real Madrid goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek could be sidelined for the next six weeks after breaking his jaw during last night's UEFA Champions League match with Auxerre.
The 37-year-old Pole, making a rare appearance for the Spanish giants in place of Iker Casillas, was replaced just before half-time in the 4-0 win after suffering the facial injury following a collision with Auxerre forward Roy Contout.
Dudek was immediately taken to a Madrid hospital where tests revealed a fractured mandible, according to a medical statement on the club's website.
The statement added: "The goalkeeper is expected to miss approximately six weeks pending an assessment by a maxillofacial surgeon in the next 24 hours."
