Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal have no psychological hang-up about playing at home.

The Gunners have the best away record in the Premier League and triumphed 4-2 at Aston Villa yesterday. It took their point tally to 17 from eight games on their travels - a sharp contrast to their form at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have been beaten in front of their own supporters by West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur - the same number of losses as bottom-placed West Ham United. But Wenger is adamant it is not a major concern with his side challenging strongly for the title.

He said: "The fact we have away wins, but are not winning so much at home, I feel it is a coincidence. I don't believe we have a mental problem in terms of playing at home. I would prefer to have the problem this way around rather than the other way around.

"It is good to know you can win away and, at some stage at home, you know you will get things right. There is no fear about playing at home. Maybe we want to be a bit more urgent at home. Maybe we feel at the start a bit too confident, I don't know."

Wenger feels his side achieved a vital win in surviving against Villa the type of comeback which had seen Spurs win 3-2 the previous weekend after trailing 2-0 at the Emirates. He said: "A repeat of things happening negatively [losing 2-0 leads] becomes a syndrome and that is what you don't want. I think we stamped that out by seeing the game through against Villa.

"At half-time, you feel amongst the players that what occurred against Tottenham had an impact in their head. When Villa came back to 2-1 we could either crumble or score again - and we scored again and came through. I felt we got a good mental response."

Wenger believes the best is still to come from Arsenal as they bounced back from defeats against Spurs and then Braga in the UEFA Champions League. And he was quick to praise the contribution of Andrey Arshavin, who ended a run of nine games without a goal with the opener.

Wenger said: "I think there is a lot more to come out of this team. It was a very strong performance against a dangerous Villa team. People say we'd had a terrible week but we went top for a few hours. That is the modern world. Football changes quickly. What you do is focus on the quality of what you want to do and let people judge.

"As for Andrey, he was very sharp and dangerous and you had a good feeling that he was the one that could score the goal. We are very happy for him because he has a great attitude, a great spirit. You liked always for him to have the ball because you could feel he could make a difference."
