Ten-man AA Gent today shocked Belgian league leaders Genk 2-1 at the Cristal Arena. The result saw Genk miss the chance to go further clear at the top of the Jupiler League.

Torben Joneleit gave Genk a second-minute lead only for Joao Carlos' own goal after ten minutes to bring Gent level. And Shlomi Arbeitman put the visitors in front on the half-hour mark.

Gent were reduced to ten men at 55 minutes when Marko Suler was sent off, but they held out to move to within four points of their opponents. The defeat kept Genk just two points ahead of second-placed Anderlecht, who have a game in hand.
