A last minute penalty from Juan Rodriguez earned Santos Laguna a place in the semi-finals of Mexico's Apertura semi-finals at the expense of Jaguares.

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Rodriguez kept his nerve from the spot to take Santos through to the last four, 2-1 on aggregate.

Franco Arizala's hat-trick was in vain for Pachuca, who drew 3-3 with Monterrey but bow out as a result of a 4-4 aggregate scoreline.

Monterrey led 3-1 with six minutes remaining, with goals from Humberto Suazo, Aldo De Nigris and Neri Cardozo.

Arizala netted twice in the closing stages to complete his treble - but Pachuca could not find a fourth goal which would have ensured their continued interest in the competition.
