Brisbane Roar needed Ivan Franjic's late goal to snatch a 1-1 draw against bottom side North Queensland Fury at Suncorp Stadium but still extended their lead at the top of the A-League table to three points.
The visitors went in front after just nine minutes when David Williams picked out Gareth Edds' run in the box and he finished from close range.
Franjic then hit the bar before Fury should have doubled their lead ten minutes after the break but Jason Spagnuolo missed an empty goal.
It proved a costly error as Franjic equalised in the 85th minute when he fired Matt McKay's ball past North Queensland goalkeeper Justin Pasfield.
Brisbane now head Adelaide United by three points while Fury no longer prop up the table, moving above Sydney on goal difference.
Meanwhile, Marko Jesic's second-half goal saw Newcastle Jets beat Wellington Phoenix 1-0 at EnergyAustralia Stadium.
Jesic broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when Ali Abbas fed the striker and he curled the ball into the back of the net.
