Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti today gave his backing to coach Rafael Benitez, who is under pressure after Sunday's 1-0 defeat by AC Milan left his team without a win in five matches.
"There are no radical decisions to be made, I have complete confidence in Benitez. Our project is progressing," said Moratti, who dismissed press rumours that Benitez was set to be sacked as "inventions".
"It's you who invented that and I read about it in the papers," Moratti told journalists. "A match like the one on Sunday [the derby] annoys me, but it doesn't change all the club's projects."
After three draws and one defeat, reigning five-time champions Inter have dropped from first place to fifth in Serie A.
The winners of last season's UEFA Champions League were also soundly beaten 3-1 at English side Tottenham Hotspur in the competition's group phase on 2 November.
