Dortmund Klopp fined after outburst
Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has been fined €10,000 by the German Football Federation (DFB) for an aggressive argument with an official during a Bundesliga match.
The 43-year-old clashed angrily with fourth official Stefan Trautmann after a decision by the referee went against Klopp's side during Dortmund's 2-0 win over Hamburg last Friday. Television pictures showed Klopp bellowing at Trautmann with the peak of the coach's baseball cap clipping the official's face.
A DFB disciplinary committee decided to fine rather than ban Klopp as he apologised to Trautmann immediately after the match and then later admitted on teleivision he was 'an idiot' to argue with the official. "I'm shocked at myself, it wasn't right," said Klopp last Friday.
Klopp will now pay €5,000 to both the Franz Beckenbuaer Foundation and a charity in Dortmund. Dortmund, who have a seven-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga, face fourth-placed Freiburg on Saturday in the German league.
