Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo were knocked out of the KNVB Beker tonight, after being defeated 5-3 by Third-tier minnows Achilles 29.

Achilles came from 2-0 and 3-2 down to stun their top-flight opponents, with Tim Verhoeven and Frank Hol both netting twice. Darl Douglas put Heracles ahead in the second minute and Everton da Silva made it two on the half hour. Verhoeven pulled one back with a penalty on the stroke of half-time and Ivo Rigter levelled three minutes after the break, only for Douglas to restore the visitors' lead three minutes later. But Hol made it 3-3 in the 64th minute and another Verhoeven spot-kick (70) and Hol's second (87) sealed the upset.

Ajax had no such problems against second division Veendam, although they did have to wait until the 61st minute for their first goal in a 3-0 win. Mido broke the deadlock and further strikes from Luis Suarez (76) and Christian Eriksen (87) sent them through.

FC Groningen beat ADO Den Haag 5-4 on penalties after their tie finished 1-1 after extra-time. Jonas Ivens levelled for Groningen in the 83rd minute after Lex Immers had put ADO in front 20 minutes earlier.
