Sydney FC moved off the bottom of the A-League table as Bruno Cazarine's controversial second-half goal sealed a 1-0 win over Newcastle Jets.

Cazarine struck after 76 minutes to settle the basement clash, the Brazilian striker tapping Hiro Moriyasu's cross into an empty net.

However, the ball had already gone out before Moriyasu cut it back but the goal was allowed to stand despite protests from Jets players.

Newcastle now prop up the table following the defeat.

Elsewhere, Tim Brown's first-minute goal sealed Wellington Phoenix's first away win of the season at Perth Glory.

Brown volleyed home with just 42 seconds gone at nib Stadium following Andy Todd's poor clearance. Perth captain Jacob Burns was sent off with ten minutes to go after picking up a second yellow card.
