Bayer Leverkusen coach Jupp Heynckes was far from satisfied with his side, despite a 1-0 victory over Aris Saloniki last night which took them to the top of their UEFA Europa League group.

Heynckes admitted the players had been very fortunate to get away with victory against a Greek side who "did not deserve to leave the field beaten". Arturo Vidal scored the only goal of the game in the 90th minute to secure a win for the hosts.

"Today was certainly our worst game of the season," said the Leverkusen coach. "There was not much right at all and I have got to say that they certainly did not deserve to leave the field beaten.

"We knew we were facing a defensively organised side and one who looks to hit you on the counter attack, but we could not crack them and we did not look good at the back either.

"There are certain games in which you are lucky winners and today was one of them. We hope it goes differently on Sunday and we present ourselves better than this, although we would like the same result."

Leverkusen now lead Group B by a single point from Atletico Madrid and know that one win from their remaining two matches will see them through to the last 32.
