Klinsmann to advise FC Toronto
Former Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann will join FC Toronto as an advisor, the Canadian club announced on Wednesday.
"It's an honour for us to work with an icon like Jurgen Klinsmann," said Toronto vice-president Tom Anselmi, whose club finished in 11th place overall in the 2010 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.
As a coach, Klinsmann is famous for leading Germany to a third-place finish at the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. The former German international currently lives in the United States with his family and has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich in April 2009, after only nine months in charge at the Bundesliga giants.
A prolific striker with clubs including Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, Klinsmann retired from football in 1998 with 108 international caps and 47 goals to his name and was a member of Germany FR's 1990 FIFA World Cup winning team.
