Luis Suarez has shrugged off his recent goal drought and declared himself happy that strike partner Mounir El Hamdaoui is now sharing the burden of firing Ajax into Eredivisie title contention.

The Uruguay international has been a prolific marksman since moving to the Amsterdam ArenA in August 2007, but has not hit the net in his last seven league appearances. However, he is not overly concerned.

Suarez told NUsport: "For me it's not a problem. If others score I'm still happy. Of course it's a talking point, but the fans know I am going to score again.

The ball just isn't falling for me at the moment. But if Ajax win then that is the most important thing.

"The ball just isn't falling for me at the moment, and I have regularly hit the bar and the post. But if Ajax win then that is the most important thing."

Ajax brought in El Hamdaoui from AZ over the summer and he has hit the ground running. The Moroccan's 11 goals have him top of the Eredivisie's scoring chart, and his impact has delighted Suarez.

"I'm really happy," said the 23-year-old. "Now not all the attention is on me. It gives me more freedom."

Ajax have lost just once this season and lie third in the Eredivisie, a point behind leaders Twente.
