Title contenders Anderlecht beat league leaders Genk 2-1 today to cut their lead at the top of the Belgian Jupiler League to just two points.
Sacha Kljestan fired Anderlecht into a ninth-minute lead but Thomas Buffel equalised for the leaders midway through the opening half. Romelu Lukaku struck the winner for second-placed Anderlecht after 53 minutes.
Standard Liege missed the chance of moving to within three points of the summit after being held to a 2-2 draw at Club Brugge. Jeroen Simaeys' own goal gifted Standard the lead after 27 minutes but a Ronald Vargas brace either side of the interval turned the tables in the hosts' favour. Zoro Gohi-Bi hit Standard's equaliser after 69 minutes before both teams were reduced to ten men in the closing stages. First Laurent Ciman saw red for a second booking after 76 minutes while Simaeys' miserable afternoon was compounded two minutes later when he also walked.
