Edy Reja insists his Lazio team are not title contenders despite them heading the Serie A standings for the fourth week in a row. The Romans lie four points clear of defending champions Inter Milan after eight games played.
Lazio picked up their fourth successive win in yesterday's 2-1 success over Cagliari and are undefeated since 29 August. But coach Reja believes they cannot be considered a serious challenger for the trophy.
"We are not scudetto material," said Reja. "The players and I are enjoying the moment but we are a side that points to a finish in the top six.
"We are growing and the team is riding a wave of enthusiasm while also fighting with courage," he added. "The players help each other out and this is the reason why we are getting great results.
"But it's early days and we have to wait and see how long the team responds in the next two months."
Lazio visit Palermo on Sunday before hosting city rivals Roma on 7 November.
