Newell's continue run to move fourth
Newell's Old Boys extended their unbeaten run in the Apertura campaign to 11 matches with a 1-0 win at home to Gimnasia La Plata which took them above Godoy Cruz into fourth place.
Mauricio Sperdutti's 11th-minute effort decided the match and ensured Newell's have not lost since an opening-day defeat to Estudiantes on 7 August. However, they have drawn six of those 11 unbeaten games and trail league-leaders Estudiantes by six points.
San Lorenzo are eighth, three points behind Newell's, after losing 3-0 at Huracan. The home side recorded only their third win in 12 league games thanks to goals from Carlos Quintana, Facundo Quiroga and Diego Rodriguez.
Boca Juniors' mediocre campaign continued as they were held goalless away to Independiente, with Boca ending the match a man down following Jesus Mendez's dismissal in the 74th minute.
Tigre ended a run of four games without a win by beating Olimpo 3-2, with Diego Castano scoring an 87th-minute winner.
