A 3-1 victory over Al Wasl tonight saw Al Jazira reclaim pole position in the UAE League. Ibrahima Diaky opened the scoring for Al Jazira three minutes before the interval and the midfielder then made it 2-0 after 67 minutes.
Rashed Eisa pulled a goal back for Al Wasl four minutes later, but the dismissal of Mohamad Al Sheiba eight minutes from time effectively ended their challenge. Ahmed Juma then wrapped up the win with Al Jazira's third four minutes from time.
Elsewhere, Al Shabab moved up to fifth place with a 4-1 rout of Ittihad Kalba'a. A 12th-minute own goal from Ahmed Diaa set Al Shabab on their way, with Chilean striker Carlos Villanueva adding another after 42 minutes. Brazilian Julio Cesar grabbed a third goal in the 54th minute. Ittihad Kalba'a reduced arrears six minutes after the hour mark through midfielder Simon Feindouno, but Naser Masoud put the result beyond doubt 10 minutes later.
Meanwhile, Al Ain were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Dhafra. Ivory Coast striker Boris Landry gave Al Dhafra the lead after 25 minutes but Jose Sand levelled matters from the penalty spot with 20 minutes remaining.
