Eastern Conference leaders the New York Red Bulls returned to winning ways on Thursday night as they claimed a 2-0 home victory over New England Revolution.
Dane Richards gave the Red Bulls a 17th-minute lead to give them a boost after their 2-1 defeat to the Philadelphia Union last time out. New York only made certain of the points in the 90th minute however when Estonian midfielder Joel Lindpere added a second.
The win takes New York four points clear of Columbus Crew at the top of Major League Soccer's eastern section, although the Ohio team have a game in hand. The Revolution are sixth in the eight-team division.
