Qatar League newcomers Lekhwiya climbed to the top of the table as they defeated Al Ahli 3-0 on Thursday.

Jasur Hasanov gave the lead to Lekhwiya after 20 minutes before Mohammed Razzak made it 2-0 just after the hour mark. Ivorian striker Bakary Kone sealed the win with a third goal with 15 minutes remaining.

Elsewhere, 11-time league champions Al Sadd claimed a big 4-0 win against Al Wakra. After a scoreless first half, striker Abdulkader Keita gave the lead to Al Sadd on 62 minutes from a penalty before Ali Afif made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute. Afif scored the third goal with six minutes left before he completed his hat-trick from a penalty in the first minute of stoppage time.

The round will be continued tonight as Qatar SC meet Al Arabi and Al Siliya face Al Khor, while it will be concluded on Saturday when Al Rayyan meet Umm Salal and Al Khraitiat take on defending champions Al Gharafa.
