UAE League champions Al Wahda and league contenders Al Ahli recorded respective home wins to climb up the league table today.
Al Wahda climbed to the third place in the standings thanks to a 2-0 victory over Al Nasr today. Meanwhile, Al Ahli beat Dubai 4-1 to step into fourth-place, bringing them level on points with the current champions but behind on goal difference.
Brazilian striker Fernando Baiano hit both goals for Al Wahda, the first after 33 minutes and the second just before the hour to seal the triumph.
Ahmed Khamis opened the scoring for Al Ahli after 15 minutes and Faisal Khalil doubled their advantage in the 61st minute. Brazilian midfielder Andre Luis Pinga further extended their lead in the 83rd minute, ensuring Guinean striker Boubacar Camara's late goal was only a consolation.
The weekend's action continues tomorrow, when Bani Yas host Al Ain and Al Dhafra meet Al Jazira, while on Sunday Sharjah take on Al Shabab and Al Wasl tackle Ittihad Kalba'a.
