Al Ain defeated UAE League champions Al Wahda 2-0 in the first round of the Etisalat Cup, which kicked off today.

After a scoreless first half, Al Ain opened the scoring through Argentinian striker Jose Sand after 53 minutes. Bandar Al Hababi scored Al Ain's second goal in the first minute of stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Al Ahli were held to a 1-1 draw by Ittihad Kalba'a. Ismail Al Hammadi gave the lead to Al Ahli on 18 minutes but Bahraini midfielder Abdullah Fatadi levelled the scores in the 35th minute.

In the last of today's matches, Bani Yas claimed a late 2-1 win against Al Nasr. Senegalese striker Andre Senghor gave Bani Yas the lead two minutes after the break before Guinean striker Ismail Bangoura levelled. However, an 87th-minute goal from Hassan Zahrain snatched victory for But Bani Yas.
