Real Madrid have confirmed midfielder Fernando Gago will be out for up to four weeks after damaging ligaments in his knee.

The Argentinian sustained the injury in a training match after colliding with defender Daniel Carvajal.

And tests today have revealed he could miss the next month.

A club statement read: "A clinical exploration and a magnetic resonance done at Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital have confirmed Fernando Gago suffers from a Grade II sprain on the ligament of his left knee.

"The player will miss approximately four weeks."

Gago has not yet played for Madrid under Jose Mourinho.
