Sergio van Dijk's quickfire double saw A-League leaders Adelaide United maintain their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 win over Perth Glory at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Following a goalless first-half, Van Dijk opened the scoring in the 70th minute when he met Joe Keenan's cross with a looping header that beat goalkeeper Tando Velaphi. Three minutes later, Lucas Pantelis was brought down in the box by Velaphi after latching onto Paul Reid's through ball and the Dutchman made no mistake from the spot.

Glory's Chris Coyne then saw red shortly afterwards after picking up his second booking following a challenge on Reid. It was the Glory's third consecutive loss.

Elsewhere, Wellington Phoenix survived Vince Lia's second-half sending-off to edge out North Queensland Fury 2-1 at Westpac Stadium. Wellington took the lead after just three minutes when Fury goalkeeper Justin Pasfield's poor kick fell straight to Chris Greenacre and he rounded the unfortunate keeper to net his third goal of the season.

Greenacre thought he had doubled both his and the hosts' tally in the 12th minute but his effort was ruled out for offside. Phoenix doubled their lead one minute later, though, when Leo Bertos drove a loose ball in the box past Pasfield into the back of the net.

However, Lia collected his second booking of the game in the 65th minute for a foul on Ufuk Talay and Mark Hughes then scored with a deflected free-kick to give the visitors hope of snatching a point but Wellington held on.
