Luis Fabiano has been called into the Sevilla squad for tonight's Primera Division encounter with Racing Santander after Frederic Kanoute was laid low by illness.
Sevilla coach Antonio Alvarez had initially omitted Fabiano from his plans even though the Brazil striker, having missed the weekend win over Malaga through injury, was back to health.
The 29-year-old, who last month penned a new contract to remain at Sevilla, recently expressed his frustration at life on the bench after barely playing this season, but Alvarez yesterday assured nothing untoward should be read into his decision not to call up the former Sao Paulo and Porto forward.
He said: "I have no type of complaint with Luis, but I still think he can give more and I'm sure he's going to do just that. He is still very important for us."
