Juventus have confirmed the departure of French striker David Trezeguet after ten years at the club.

The 32-year-old is expected to join Spanish side Hercules after agreeing to cancel the final year of his deal with La Vecchia Signora.

In a statement, Juve president Andrea Agnelli praised Trezeguet's impact in his decade in Turin. "I've been, like all Juventus supporters, very fond of David and his 171 goals in ten years," he said.

I've been, like all Juventus supporters, very fond of David and his 171 goals in ten years. It's been a real love affair.

"A player with an average of 17 goals a season does not need any further comments. It's been a real love affair, David will always be in the heart of all us Juventus supporters."

However, that love affair began to come to an end last season as Trezeguet was squeezed out of the starting XI and his expensive wages became a burden to the club.

The signing of Fabio Quagliarella from Napoli yesterday effectively signalled the end of Trezeguet's Juventus career.

The former Monaco player won two Serie A titles, although his penalty miss handed AC Milan the UEFA Champions League title in 2002/03.
