Nicolas Burdisso has joined AS Roma from Inter Milan for €8 million.
The 29-year-old had a highly successful loan spell at Roma last season and earlier this week turned down an offer from Juventus.
Roma will pay the fee over three seasons while Burdisso will earn €4.5 million a year, the club said.
Burdisso was part of the Argentina squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa.
His younger brother, 22-year-old Guillermo, has already joined Roma on loan from Roasario Central, with an option on a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
