Club America moved top of Group 2 in the Mexican Apertura with a 1-0 win at Queretaro on Sunday. Daniel Montenegro scored the winning goal a minute after half-time to lift his side above Toluca in the standings.
Unam Pumas thrashed Group 3 rivals Puebla 4-1 with Dante Lopez and substitute Juan Carlos Cacho scoring a double apiece. The match had been level at 1-1 after 64 minutes when Orlando Rincon cancelled out Lopez's opener, but two goals in nine minutes from Cacho before Lopez's second late on made for a one-sided scoreline.
Rafael Marquez struck the only goal of the game after 75 minutes as Morelia, who had Mauricio Romero sent off with five minutes left, beat Necaxa.
