Al Shabab complete Olivera deal
Asian Champions League quarter-finalists Al Shabab have signed striker Juan Manuel Olivera on a two-year contract.
The 28-year-old Uruguayan joins Al Shabab from Chilean outfit Universidad de Chile and will be the Saudi Arabian side's fourth foreign player.
Olivera began his career with Danubio in 2001 before moving to Cruz Azul in Mexico four years later after he was loaned out to San Lorenzo in 2004. He then joined Universidad de Chile on loan in 2005 before returning to Danubio one year later.
"We signed Olivera after we were convinced by his recent form. Coach Jorge Fossati knows his capabilities very well and he's a good finisher as well," Al Shabab president Khaled Al Bultan told the club's website.
"We agreed on terms with the player three weeks ago but we preferred to wait until the end of his club's participation in the Copa Libertadores to complete the transfer. Olivera is a top striker and he has good goalscoring abilities."
